About Raimat Turons de la Pleta

Uniqueness is one of the attributes that today's consumer seeks in an ever-expanding and saturated market. This can be achieved through technological innovations in the winery, embracing rediscovered grape varieties, or making the most of unique terroirs. Raimat, a winery belonging to the Codorníu group located in the province of Lleida (Catalonia), has been a pioneer in creating high-quality organic wines in the D.O. Costers del Segre throughout its over 100 years of history. Now, with their estate wines of very limited production, they not only demonstrate their absolute mastery of the region but also know how to extract its finest expression.

Their white wine, Raimat Turons de la Pleta, is crafted from chardonnay grapes sourced from a plot situated on one of the hills ("turons" in Catalan) of the estate. This vineyard is entirely distinct from the other plots that make up Raimat and is heavily influenced by the cierzo wind. Vines approximately 25 years old are planted in what they call 'Cervell de gat', meaning cemented gravel that forms conglomerates and is completely impermeable to water and impenetrable to roots. Certified organic farming is practiced, and the harvest is manual and selective, using 10-kilogram boxes. Once in the winery, a cold skin maceration is carried out before pressing, and the clarified must naturally ferments at low temperatures with indigenous yeasts in French oak foudre. The wine then ages on its lees for 12 months in French oak foudre without the impact of toasted wood to fully preserve the fruit.

Minimal intervention and maximum expression are the equitable conditions to achieve Raimat Turons de la Pleta. A small, high-quality production that exudes uniqueness.
