About Peixe da Estrada

Peixes da Estrada is a red wine without denomination of origin produced by Bodegas Peixes in Viana do Bollo, Ourense.

Bodegas Peixes is the new project of the 2 guys of Fedellos do Couto, Jesús and Curro, outside D.O. Ribeira Sacra, right in the Ourense massif, with vineyards that are exposed to the cold right to the limit where the grapes can have a good ripening.

The wines produced by Bodegas Peixes are made in a small winery in Seadur. They have 5 hectares of vineyards located in Viana do Bollo, between Valdeorras and Ribeira Sacra. Here, soils are granitic and with shales. They directly cultivate 3 hectares, without using chemical products, with minimum intervention and maximum respect. In the other 2 hectares, they oversee the work of the winegrowers. The result: wines of great elegance and freshness.

Peixe da Estrada is a red wine made with Mouratón, Mencía, Red Grenache, Grao Negro and Godello from vineyards located at around 800 metres of altitude, planted on granite soils with mica and orange quartz.

After the manual harvest, the grapes ferment with native yeasts and are aged for 12-months in used French oak barrels.

2016 Peixe da Estrada 2016 is a fluid, juicy and fresh red wine. This vintage mixes red grapes with 15% white grapes, resulting in a very sharp wine on the nose, where the aromas of black fruit with floral notes stand out. In the mouth, it is easy to drink but with good structure.
