About Circe Verdejo

A remote island in the Mediterranean, a sorceress, and a goblet capable of altering the fate of those who tasted it. Circe is one of the most captivating figures in Greek mythology and, centuries later, also the name of a Verdejo wine born in the lands of Segovia.
 
The choice is not coincidental. As Homer recounts in The Odyssey, Circe welcomed men to her island, enchanting them with her potions and wines. Bodegas Avelino Vegas seeks to recapture that magical and alluring essence by naming Circe Verdejo, a white wine from DO Rueda, which is distinguished by its aromatic intensity and its ability to captivate.
 
Circe Verdejo originates from small vineyards located in the municipalities of Moraleja, Aldeanueva, Codorniz, and Santiuste, in the province of Segovia. These are plots ranging from one to three hectares, planted with old vines, some over 100 years old. Their sandy soils, with clay beneath and a surface covered with pebbles, enhance drainage and help retain subsoil moisture.
 
During production, Circe Verdejo aims to preserve the full expressiveness of these vineyards. The grapes undergo a gentle cold maceration to obtain the free-run juice and extract the maximum varietal aromas. It then ferments at 12°C and rests on its fine lees, a process that adds creaminess and greater palate volume.
 
Thus, Circe Verdejo is born, an aromatic, fresh, and enveloping wine, with an intense expression and a texture that invites further exploration, glass after glass. In this instance, Circe Verdejo does not transform men into animals, but it does possess a certain enchantment: the glass empties, and one always desires another.

You are sure to be surprised by the exotic fruits and white flowers that appear in the aromas. The palate is very long, intense and penetrating.
