What if the albariño you thought you knew had another side, deeper, more deliberate, almost unexpected? One that doesn't linger on the immediate, but rather invites you to sit, gaze at the sea head-on, and let time work its magic.
 
In the heart of Salnés (Rías Baixas, Galicia), where the Atlantic breeze weaves through ancient vines and the granitic soil holds memories, this project by Bodegas La Caña is born under the keen eye of Jorge Ordóñez. Here, there is no rush nor modern formulas: there is a conscious return to how things were once done, when albariño fermented in wood and rested on its lees, silently building character. Plots like “La Playa”, almost touching the sea, impart that saline and vibrant identity that defines its origin.
 
La Caña Navia strays from the lighter profile to offer something more enveloping and textural. Fermented with its own yeasts and aged on its lees for months in French oak barrels, it develops a broad, silky palate, with that glyceric touch that caresses without overwhelming. Notes of grapefruit and lime emerge, white flowers like jasmine, and a mineral backdrop that recalls its origins. It is a wine that moves with calm, evolves in the glass, and leaves a lingering, almost tactile sensation.
 
La Caña Navia is one of those whites that demands more than a quick aperitif. A leisurely table, good conversation, or even that solitary moment at home, when everything comes to a halt. Because there are wines that refresh... and others, like this one, that accompany.

La Caña Navia 2024 is a white wine that reveals a broad and enveloping bouquet on the nose, where ripe white and stone fruits coexist with clear citrus nuances and delicate floral hints of jasmine, all embraced by subtle mineral notes and a vanilla undertone that imparts warmth. On the palate, it is creamy and silky, with volume and texture shaped by its ageing on lees, yet supported by a fresh acidity that balances the ensemble and extends the finish. The finish is persistent, with a slightly saline echo that recalls its Atlantic origin, leaving an elegant, expansive, and very harmonious sensation.
