Alomado 2025 is a mature red wine that captivates from the very first sip. Its time in barrels imparts a depth that manifests in aromas of dark fruits such as blackberries and plums, accompanied by a subtle hint of vanilla and spices reminiscent of cinnamon. About Alomado

In the storytelling culture, the same tale can undergo a complete transformation depending on the storyteller, their tone of voice, gestures, or even the audience. This concept of adaptation and individuality is perfectly embodied in the venture of Eduardo Eguren and his wife Carlota González in La Rioja. As the fifth generation of the Eguren family —Sierra Cantabria, Teso la Monja, Viñedos de Páganos— Eduardo decided to establish a personal project capable of conveying the essence of each vineyard in every bottle. Hence the project's name: Cuentaviñas.

Among their wines, Cuentaviñas Alomado stands out, its name derived from “alomo,” meaning the highest or most elevated part of a terrain. It represents the most Atlantic and approachable interpretation of a single vineyard within the expansive area of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. It is crafted from a blend of tempranillo and 20% white grapes —viura, malvasía riojana, and calagraño— sourced from a vineyard managed with respectful and sustainable agriculture.

The vineyard, planted in 1960 at Finca Ribarrey, is located in the last valley of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, on silty and clayey soils with limestone and 60% pebbles, which impart structure and freshness to the wine. The destemmed grapes are co-fermented in small oak vats, initially fermenting with indigenous yeasts and concluding with selected yeasts. The malolactic fermentation takes place in used 500-litre barrels, where the wine remains for 18 months, developing complexity and balance.

The result is a wine with fresh fruit, elegant structure, and an Atlantic character, reflecting both the vineyard's history and Eduardo's meticulous attention to detail. Cuentaviñas Alomado is, ultimately, a liquid narrative that adapts and astonishes, much like a skilled storyteller.
