About Cuatro Pasos Black

Cuatro Pasos Black is a red wine produced by Martin Codax, in Cacabelos, León, under the D.O. Bierzo.

This wine is made exclusively with the Mencía grape variety, taken from 80 year old vines on slopes of slate soils which are plowed, with no type of herbicide being used. The harvest is carried out manually using 20kg boxes.

Cuatro Pasos Black is made in stainless steel tanks, with fermentation carried out for 7 days, left to macerate for 25 days with its skins. The wine is then aged for 10 months in American oak barrels.

This is a well concentrated wine, seeking for the maturity of the grape as well as the toasted and spiced nature of the barrel.
