Clos La Gaffelière 2025 transports you to a vineyard stroll in the height of summer. On the nose, it presents an intense aroma of blackberries and ripe plums, accompanied by subtle hints of black cherries. About Clos La Gaffelière

During a visit to Château La Gaffelière (in the north of the region), numerous aspects are astonishing: the 38 hectares of vineyards (predominantly Merlot), its majestic building with a distinctive silhouette (towering imposingly amidst the vines), the extensive family tree that greets visitors (with roots deeply embedded in centuries of tradition), the Gallo-Roman mosaics (discovered by Count Léo de Malet Roquefort in 1969)... However, nothing compares to the delightful sensation that envelops you at the end of the visit when you taste Clos La Gaffelière. Make no mistake: Clos La Gaffelière is the second wine of this estate, yet it lacks nothing compared to the first.
 
More than 90% of the composition of Clos La Gaffelière is made up of Merlot, with a touch of Cabernet Franc and even some clusters from younger vines (depending on the vintage) that are respectfully cultivated on the mountainside, where carbonate-rich sandy soils abound. This centuries-old expertise is manifested in sustainable and meticulous practices, as the fragility of the soil demands greater attention to produce a much finer and more elegant grape. This involves alternating mechanical work with manual tasks, such as pruning or nighttime harvesting in 10-kilogram boxes, mechanical destemming, and optical sorting.
 
Although the origin of both wines is identical, Clos La Gaffelière is crafted and aged in a separate room, where each variety —after spending an entire night in the cooling chamber— ferments individually in stainless steel tanks. Throughout this process, all movements are conducted by gravity, ensuring the harvest pulp is placed into the vats in perfect condition, preserving its quality and attributes entirely.
 
During the maturation, each variety of Clos La Gaffelière will also age separately for approximately a year. In these months, which also include the malolactic fermentation, only a couple of rackings are performed, providing an opportunity to monitor the development of Clos La Gaffelière. When everything is ready, and just before bottling, the different varieties of Clos La Gaffelière are blended. This crucial step is decided by the management, the technical team, and consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. Finally, Clos La Gaffelière is bottled and inevitably embarks on its journey: to captivate palates in every corner of the world. And it always succeeds! With Clos La Gaffelière, no one can resist the unique interpretation of the terroir of this distinguished estate.
