About Carrasviñas Verdejo

There are wines that withstand any trend. Carrasviñas Verdejo is one such wine. For decades, Félix Lorenzo Cachazo has spent over 70 years transforming this variety and this wine into one of the esteemed veterans of the DO Rueda.
 
The secret of Carrasviñas Verdejo lies in the old vines over 40 years old (some of which even survived phylloxera), where this variety is cultivated. These vineyards are located in Alcazarén (Valladolid), in an area rich with very sandy soils that combine with a demanding continental climate, which help define the aromas and flavours of this variety.
 
In the winery, Carrasviñas Verdejo follows a precise and minimally interventionist philosophy. The grapes are received, destemmed, and crushed before undergoing a gentle pressing to obtain the free-run juice, the most delicate and highest quality fraction. After a static cold-aided settling, the must of Carrasviñas Verdejo ferments slowly at a low temperature, around 14°C for 20 days, preserving the full aromatic expression of the verdejo.
 
Carrasviñas Verdejo has spent over 70 years proving that there is no need to chase trends when you have a good vineyard and know what you want to achieve with it. A historic verdejo from DO Rueda, fresh, authentic, and remarkably easy to enjoy.

Carrasviñas Verdejo 2024 exhibits an appealing straw-yellow hue with greenish reflections, clear and bright. On the nose, it is distinguished by its high aromatic intensity, where the characteristic aromas of verdejo emerge, such as fennel and fresh grass, accompanied by notes of white fruits like pear and peach, as well as tropical touches. On the palate, it is a complex and well-balanced wine, with a refreshing acidity and a slight bitterness, leaving a lingering impression of the fruits perceived on the nose.

On the nose, it unfurls a spectrum of scents with highlights of pineapple and mango, interwoven with gentle hints of ripe apple and pear. Carrasviñas Verdejo 2022 is an aromatic white wine with powerful fragrances of tropical fruit, herbaceous notes, and aniseed and menthol touches. On the palate, it is ample, fleshy, and well-structured. A wine with a fresh and acidic passage, a marked varietal character, and a typically bitter finish.
2009 Elegant and very wide at the entrance. Fleshy, with good structure. Acid step which marks a subtle varietal character recovering in the end, fruity notes.

Straw yellow with green trim, clean, bright and very attractive.

High aromatic potential of medium to high intensity. Shedding some dried herb aromas with tropical fruit memories such as papaya and pineapple on a floral background with herbaceous notes, aniseed and menthol.
