About Bagús

Bagús is a single-plot red wine made with the Tempranillo (Tinta del País) variety by the López Cristobal winery in the D.O. Ribera de Duero.

After selling their own grapes to other winemakers for years, Santiago López decided to start making his own wines in his winery. Founded in 1994 under the name López Cristóbal (his first surname, and then his wife’s) the winery is located in Roa (Ribera de Duero) and has all the technical facilities needed to make high-quality wines.

The grapes used to make Bagús come from a plot of vines over 80 years old. Sitting at 850 meters above sea level, they are manually harvested in small boxes when they reach optimum ripeness and moved to the winery.

Once they reach the winery, the Bagús clusters pass over the selection table. They undergo alcoholic fermentation and maceration at a controlled temperature between 24ºC and 28ºC. The wine is aged for 14 months in new French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels. It is then refined in the bottle for 18 months.

Bagús is a red wine whose name means good in the Indonesian language. A declaration of intent that invites you to see for yourself.
2015 Bagús 2015 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe fruit, spices and chocolate. On the palate it is flavoursome and balanced with a lingering finish.
